  4. This packages contain the common support structure implementing the policy
  5. proposal for ispell dictionaries and wordlists. For more information please

  12. -------------------

  14. This is the basic package. All ispell dictionaries and wordlists must
  15. pre-depend on it. It provides the common structure for the use of the
  16. system. These are some commands of interest for the superuser or for
  17. normal users. For more details or developers information, please see
  18. the dictionaries-common-dev package.

  20. select-default-ispell:
  21. select-default-wordlist:

  23.     (root only)
  24.     Although at installation time the system administrator has been asked (if
  25.     there is more that one dictionary or wordlist installed in the system)
  26.     which one will be the system default, these commands allow changing the
  27.     default value for ispell dictionary or wordlist at any time.

  29. ispell-wrapper:
  30.  
  31.     The system provides a wrapper to ispell (named ispell-wrapper) with an
  32.     enhanced command line interface that will take care of passing to ispell
  33.     the appropriate options for a language.
  34.  
  35.     This command will accept all the ispell options plus -L <language>, where
  36.     language must correspond to one of the languages installed in the system
  37.     (Perl regular expressions will be probably available here, such that
  38.     calling ispell-wrapper -L ".*brasil.*" will select
  39.     "PortuguΩs Brasileiro").

  41. select-default-iwrap:
  42.  
  43.     This is an interactive selection script for selecting the user-specific
  44.     default ispell dictionary for ispell-wrapper. The result will be placed
  45.     in ~/.default-ispell.
  46.  
  47.     The system wide default value for ispell-wrapper will be the globally
  48.     selected one at installation time or through select-default-ispell.

  50. dictionaries-common-dev
  51. -----------------------

  53. This is the package for developers. It contains the complete policy
  54. document, as well as debhelper like support scripts. Use of these is
  55. strongly recommended.

  58. package as dsdt-policy.html or dsdt-policy.txt.gz

  63. ispell dicts and wordlists naming and availability
  64. --------------------------------------------------

  66. Note that you will find two types of dictionaries :
  67.  
  68.  * dictionaries for ispell spellchecker, whose package names are of the
  69.    form i<language>, e.g. iamerican (for ispell)
  70.  
  71.  * simple alphabetic lists of words, application-independent
  72.    (also known as "wordlists") whose package names are mostly of the form
  73.    w<language>, e.g. wspanish (with the exception of "miscfiles" that
  74.    also provides a wordlist as well as some many other things)
  75.  
  76. Since ispell dictionaries must provide 'ispell-dictionary' and
  77. wordlists 'wordlist', if you want to know a list of the available ispell
  78. dictionaries or wordlists please try

  80. $ apt-cache search --names-only ispell-dictionary
  81. $ apt-cache search --names-only wordlist

  83. Templates localization:
  84. -----------------------

  86. As of 0.9.5 templates handling has been migrated to po-debconf. It will
  87. store the templates in the preferred encoding and they will be shown in
  88. the user's encoding by means of libtext-iconv-perl if installed. Note
  89. that this sometimes need changing the LANG value from a thing like
  90. 'spanish' to something like 'es_ES'. Check if this is your case.
